Exploring Exmoor

View from The CulboneAs well as being a spectacular outdoor environment, Exmoor as a community is steeped in history and tradition. At The Culbone we are extremely fortunate that we have very close proximity to a number of those historic towns and villages.

An extra special Journey

The Culbone is located on The A39 between Porlock and Lynmouth and without doubt provides for one of the most scenic and dramatic journeys you’ll ever experience. With the journey taking in both Porlock Hill and Countisbury Hill just outside Lynmouth, you will enjoy stunning views across both Exmoor and The Bristol Channel. The drop down Countisbury Hill into Lynmouth rivals anything you’ll see in the world! We recommend you take the Open Topped Bus between Minehead and Lynmouth.

Exmoor offers fantastic scope for enjoying the outside, ranging from walking and trekking to hunting, fishing and birdwatching. There are numerous opportunities to see Exmoor in the hands of experts on a Safari with our friends at Experience Exmoor.

If you want a more vigorous view of the moor then choose one of the numerous walks on offer. There are some located very close to The Culbone itself. Have a look at www.visit-exmoor.co.uk/walking

Or take in some of the abundant birdlife that is available, why not visit the exciting Falconry and Owl centre in Allerford just outside Porlock, great for the kids!. www.exmoorfalconry.co.uk

Fancy checking out the night sky in detail, see our Dark Skies Safari.
