“Great Weekend on Exmoor”

Having just come back from a weekend at The Culbone I wanted to post a review so others can experience this Exmoor gem.

We arrived late on Friday evening and received a warm, friendly and efficient welcome.  We were quickly shown to our room and invited to come back to the restaurant to order food when we were ready.  Our bedroom was spacious, luxurious and spotlessly clean.     The shower room was modern and had a lovely hot and powerful shower.  The added extras such as the offer of electric blankets were a nice touch.

It wasn’t until the morning that we fully appreciated the surroundings.   The Culbone is perched on a hill with the dining area looking over stunning 180 degree views of the Exmoor National Park.  It really is idyllic.  The only thing to take your eyes of the view is the breakfast!  A good choice of options and executed perfectly.

We had dinner at The Culbone for both the nights of our stay and really couldn’t fault the quality of the food, the choice and the service.  We also stayed for Sunday lunch before hitting the road.  Crispy potatoes and plenty of hot gravy – perfect.  The food throughout the weekend more than exceeded our expectations.

In summary – friendly, comfy accommodation, food and drink which can’t be faulted and a magnificent setting.  What’s not love?  I don’t hesitate to give a whole hearted 5 stars.
