The Culbone Scholarship – working in the community

The Culbone is conjunction with West Somerset College are proud to announce the award of the first ‘The Culbone Scholarship’ awarded to the outstanding student in Hospitality for the academic year 2014/15. The recipient of this award is Rosemary Overall.

Rosemary is a Year 13 hospitality student at the College’s training restaurant The Combe. As part of the course she trains in the kitchen as well as front of house.  Over the past year she had the opportunity to work with Michelin starred chefs Sam Moody and Mark Dodson as well as Thomas Carr and Andrew Dixon.

We have worked with Elke Koessling-Winzer, Marketing & Communications Officer at the Skills & Enterprise Centre of the College, who has been fundamental to bringing this scholarship to life and we thank her for all her efforts in achieving this.

The Scholarship offers a opportunity for Rosemary to gain valuable professional qualifications. Rosemary will attend a two-week-course at the London School of Wine and Spirits in London in September which will take her from “Novice to Professional”. During this time she will also have the opportunity to dine at one of London’s top restaurant with Susan Clark, Somerset Life’s Food Editor, and shadow a sommelier.
